My life in summary...

I’ve been a little quiet recently. This is in terms of both electronic communication and general lifestyle.

Work has been crazy busy. I have taken on a promotion for 2 months which is evident through a substantial pay increase and inversely proportionate reduction in social interaction. Lunch hours have become non existent, ability to exercise has been reduced and sheer level of tiredness at the end of each day is pretty high. Yet increased stress has resulted in 1.5kg weight loss…

Then to top it all off I went to give blood last week to find that I am anaemic (MCV - varying between 107-116). The MCV is not too low, with the cut off being 120 but low enough to be not allowed to give whole blood – also contributing to exhaustion levels.

So enough about my woes. I have to admit life is pretty good.

For the first time in a long, long time I have saved a significant amount of money. This may seem like a small achievement, but for me this is a big pat on the back! There is a downside to this however. It appears that I am quite the miser when it comes to money. Who would have though that?!?

Now I have some money put away for a rainy day I am really worried about the amount of money my future wedding is going to cost us. Andrew and Anth – delay responsibility at all costs, it is what creates wrinkles I swear! I’m sure I was looking substantially younger a few months ago.

I have taken the advice of a mentor of mine who told me last week that “Go for it – and you do know it’s never a good time but when you have your big day, you’ll have a great time!” and in a later email said “Hmmm, the expense – I know what you mean, but it won’t get any cheaper. Start entering comps to win a dream wedding!! Campfire on the farm maybe?” I still have a few years to look for cheaper options and negotiate costs so we’ll have to wait and see what eventuates.

Who would have thought that a renting a beach house, inviting friends and family over for a BBQ and dancing until the sun comes up would have been so hard to organise. Apparently there are very few beach houses willing to let you do this and the ones who do allow this want to charge you about $5000 for the privilege. So far I have found a great location between Noosa and Eumundi that is flexible enough to allow me to supply our own alcohol and bring in my choice of caterers - Villa Alba. The Boathouse Restaurant at Noosaville is also coming in a strong favourite.

This would be a dream option: The Angkasa – the pricing is a little on the “ouchy” side. This was my initial “this is where we are going to get married” dream location – Lennox on the Beach, but they were straight out “no can do” when I asked them.

I just had the best weekend which centred around our couch, “Love in the Time of Cholera” and lots of napping. I have to admit “Love in the Time of Cholera” is surprisingly good. Who would have thought taking literature advise from “High Fidelity” would have paid off?

“Hey, I'm not the smartest guy in the world, but I'm certainly not the dumbest. I mean, I've read books like "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" and "Love in the Time of Cholera", and I think I've understood them. They're about girls, right? Just kidding. But I have to say my all-time favourite book is Johnny Cash's autobiography "Cash" by Johnny Cash.”

So far so good. I think I understand it and yes Rob… It is about girls.

A not so big secret...

I have big news...

Mark took me out for dinner last night and asked me to be his wife. I'm still a little shell shocked, but very happy.
